How Make A Long Distance Relationship Work
Long distance relationships can be difficult to sustain especially when you and your partner are separated for long periods of time. Don't be put off however as there are plenty of success stories of couples who have stood the test of time and watched their relationship flourish despite being countries, if not continents, apart. Keeping in touch and showing you care is key to making your relationship work.
Despite living a long distance apart, it's important to make time for each other just like you would if you lived in the same city. Arranging a specific time of day to chat on the phone or on the internet ensures that you have a sustained and scheduled time at which you can catch up, uninterrupted and hear about each other's day. That said, it's also nice to get in touch whenever you feel something relevant to your partner comes up in conversation; something as simple as a text message will remind them you're thinking about them.
Another way to show your partner that you're thinking about them is surprise them with the odd present. Sending a bouquet of flowers, a poem or card is a wonderful surprise, especially if it's out of the blue. Demonstrating you care doesn't have the cost the earth as it's the though that counts. For a real surprise some long distance couples even go so far as to turn up unexpected and finding time to make time will allow you to appreciate each other even more.
Keeping in touch and travelling to see each other can become a costly business for long distance couples and is often cited as the main reason for couples going their separate ways. Although spending time in each other's company is priceless there are also plenty of ways in which you can save money on things call phone calls. Cheap calls are easier than you think when it comes to using a phone card, Skype or other VoIP services not to mention direct dial access codes that can save you tens of pounds per call. Saving money will allow you to treat each other even more!
Keep in touch, surprise each other and save money in the process; a long distance relationship could be easier than you think.
